Awards & Bursaries for Students with Disabilities

York University has a number of awards available to students with disabilities.  Information about these awards is available on Student Financial Services (SFS) Awards for Students with Disabilities  page.  Questions about these awards should be directed to SFS.

The Bursary for Students with Disabilities (BSWD) and the Canada Student Grant for Services and Equipment for Persons with Permanent Disabilities (CSG-PDSE) are components of the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) and the Canada Student Loan Program (CSLP), respectively and are intended to:

  • Help students with financial need meet their disability-related educational costs without having to incur additional debt
  • Increase access to post secondary education for students with disabilities

Find out more about the BSWD in the video below:

Additional information about the BSWD is available from the SFS Bursary for Students with Disability (BSWD) page.  To apply for the BSWD, a student must be registered with Mental Health Disability Services (MHDS) or another unit within Disability Services.

Please note:  students who qualify for the BSWD should submit receipts to SFS.  SFS has a drop box in the lobby of the Bennett Centre.  Receipt forms are available from the SFS BSWD link given above.
