Workshops offered by Mental Health Disability Services (MHDS) are open to all students registered with Disability Services at York - participants must be registered with MHDS, Learning Disability Services (LDS), Physical, Sensory & Medical Disability Services (PSMDS), or Counselling & Disability Services, Glendon Site. Our "Meet Up Group" is only open to students registered with MHDS.
The dates, times and locations of workshops and groups offered by MHDS are available on our Events Calendar.
In this group, participants will learn a variety of mindfulness and relaxation strategies they can employ on campus and in other areas of their life. There will be opportunities for reflection, discussion and practice.
Participants can choose to do the activities seated in chairs, on meditation cushions, or on yoga mats. All materials provided. Registration is required for this workshop. This workshop is only open to students registered with Disability Services.
Wellness Tool Kit
This workshop series provides an opportunity for students to reflect on their wellness and health, explore how to manage challenging situations, learn new strategies from other students, and create a plan for maintaining wellness and health throughout the year.
Registration is required to take part in this series. This workshop is only open to students registered with Disability Services.
Alternative Exams Workshop
These hands-on workshops are led by MHDS peer mentors in September. They are happy to share their knowledge to help new and returning students sign up for their exams easily and on time. Don't procrastinate! Come and meet other students and get this job out of the way!
This workshop is being held in the TEL Lab (TEL 1017). Please bring your course outlines with you (you'll be able to complete online requests for exam and test accommodations during the workshop). Registration is required to take part in this workshop. This workshop is only open to students registered with Disability Services.
Meet Up Group
This is an informal social group that provides support, discussion and connection for students registered with MHDS. Peer Mentors will be present and lead many of the discussions. This group only open to students registered with Mental Health Disability Services.
The Peer Positive Committee is an action-oriented advisory group. We meet once per month and are working to develop an online resource which has been identified as a tool to address barriers students here at MHDS experience. We ask students to join with the intention of participating each month, with the possibility of additional student-run meetings. Our meetings run on Tuesday evenings from 5-6:30 pm . If you are interested in participating, please let your disability counsellor know so they can provide you with more information.
