Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an 8 week cumulative program that introduces participants to various mindfulness practices, encourages the development of an ongoing meditation to increase resilience and provides a framework for understanding the mechanisms and effects of stress in life.
Participants will learn how to develop a different relationship to stress and practical skills for managing stress. The majority of MBSR program participants report lasting decreases in both the psychological and physical symptoms of stress. The research indicates good behavioural outcomes such as better sleep and fewer worries.
This group is open to all students registered with Disability Services. To participate, students do not need to be enrolled in summer classes but they must be returning to their studies at York in the fall of 2017.
